Work Experience as a Translator
My translation experience is made up of a combination of in-house and freelance activities:
- In-house French legal translation for a corporate law firm in Paris, translating legal documents and correspondence.
- In-house localisation testing of video games and websites for a Glasgow-based localisation company.
- Freelance translation activities in a variety of subject areas.
- Pro bono: I am a member of Translations for Progress, a charitable organisation coordinating pro bono translations for organisations such as NGOs.
I also have industry-specific experience, having worked in Finance prior to starting work as a translator. My background in Finance (one year as a trainee auditor for a firm of accountants and a period of IT controls testing for a financial services company) has led me into a significant amount of financial translation.
