University of Aberdeen (2007). A full Scots Law degree with an additional year of study at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium and a special focus on Belgian, European and International Law. My Honours dissertation evaluated current legislative provision for speakers of minority languages in the UK.
MSc with distinction in Translation and CAT Tools
Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh (2009). A specialist postgraduate Masters programme, focusing on technical translation and localisation. My Masters dissertation examined the translation of complex syntactic structures in legal writing. I also attended a two week residential translation course.
Summer School for Screen Translation
University of Bologna, Italy (2009). I attended a two week residential course involving translation for film, television and video games. The course included training in subtitling, dubbing and audio description, with a special focus on accessibility and subtitling for the hard of hearing.
Associate of the Inst. of Translation and Interpreting
The Institute of Translation & Interpreting was founded in 1986 as the only independent professional association of practising translators and interpreters in the United Kingdom. It is now one of the primary sources of information on these services to government, industry, the media and the general public.
